Puerto Galera is a well visited area in the Philippines and has been popular since the Spanish reign in the Philippines as the port of galleons. The area became a popular tourist spot during the Americans time in the Philippines because of the many beaches, snorkelling spots, and diving spots. The area has been declared a UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve since 1973, because of the diversity of the underwater life.
